Microwave Digestion – The Basics
Microwave digestion is used to dissolve solid samples into liquid form, particularly to extract trace metals before analysis on Atomic Absorption Spectroscope, ICP- AES and ICP-MS. Microwave digesters uses a combination of high temperature and pressure along with the chemical action of the acids, breaking down the sample matrix, dissolving the target analytes into the liquid phase.

Microwave Digester – The NuWav-ULTRA
Our microwave digester has the finest temperature and pressure resolution with a precision of +/- 0.1 (°C / MPa respectively) making it the industry leader. Our TFM digestion vessels uses our in-house designed and manufactured high pressure hand tighten bolt technique for extraction of trace metals from any complex sample matrix. NuWav-ULTRA’s inner digestion vessels are manufactured of TFM (modified PTFE) with unmatched high temperature & acid resistance and can handle HF (Hydrofluoric Acid) with ease. Capable of digestion of samples as low as 0.1mg.
NuWav-ULTRA serves requirements of different samples digestion / extraction of upto 12 high – throughput processing capacity vessels of 100ml each. (Available in 6, 8, 10, 12 digestion TFM vessel capacity ).
In-house manufactured digestion ROTOR (8 & 12 vessel ROTOR) is reinforced with Stainless Steel 316Lbars,preventing blowoff in any situation and can withstand pressure >20 MPa.
Outer vessel jacket of our digestion system are made of ultra-high strength aerospace grade composite fiber which is the pinnacle in anti- explosion, anti-corrosion, high temperature and pressure resistant properties.
NuWav-ULTRA comprises of a 7 inch wide-format acid-resistant colour touchscreen to set-up and control all the digestion parameters like microwave power, temperature, pressure, ramped programming and also provide various safety features and graphical data. The microwave digester can be completely operated and controlled via the touchscreen.

MICROWAVE DIGESTION SYSTEM – SALIENT FEATURES
Every microwave digestion vessel is placed horizontally in the ROTOR, so the vessel frame has enough strength for balancing vertical expansive forces when the internal pressure rises continuously in the NuWav-ULTRA.
The hand-tightened bolts prevent the digestion vessels from leaking at lower temperatures, as the digestion vessel cap gets sealed as soon as the heating starts. Sample loss is eliminated by this technique in the NuWav-ULTRA.
The blow-out bolts upon over pressure will release overpressure vapour in time, ensuring complete safety of the system and the user.
Digestion vessel base adopts blowout disc over-pressure “Cut-off” technology and realizes the quantitative control of internal pressure of all reaction vessels, avoiding any further damage to the microwave digester.
Accurate and precise Piezoelectric Crystal Pressure Sensor and Pt100 Probe Temperature Sensor measures and controls through a closed-loop microprocessor system by intelligent and dynamic microwave power adjustment, ensuring the accuracy of pressure and temperature of the samples being digested to the highest precision.
The whole set of digestion vessels in the chamber uniformly and continually rotates in a single direction, ensuring homogeneous heating of all vessels inside the cavity of the microwave reactor.
Sturdy and durable high-temperature powder-coated Industrial Grade Stainless Steel (316L) construction design of the NuWav-Ultra strengthens its impact resistance of the microwave digestion system.
Multi-layer chemical Resistance coating inside the cavity improves the service life and safety of the microwave digester.
Double-Locking Door mechanism with Explo-Protec system provides for utmost safety to the user incase of an explosion with the use of multi-layer door design made at the highest manufacturing standard.
High-speed Forced Air Cooling for rapid cooling and venting of digestion vessels inside the microwave digestion chamber and exhaust of the digester internals ensures a perpetual life of the NuWav-ULTRA.
